Week plan

Day 1

We meet in the Marina on Eden Island at 2pm. Get to know your instructor and fellow sailors then we go over the plan for the week.

Settle in to our luxurious floating home, go food shopping and we set sail right away. Spend the night on anchor at the nearby National Park island of St. Anne. Dinner on the boat with views to the capital city of Victoria.

Day 2

Don’t miss a great opportunity to jump in the water for a refreshing morning swim. After breakfast we can explore the National Park islands all around us – Ile Moyenne, St. Anne etc.
Then we head towards Praslin as we go over the beginning of the course material, stop at Round island for lunch – grilled tuna that we catch along the way – and a refreshing swim around the coral reef then ashore to chill under the shadow of palm trees.
We continue to our night anchorage at Curieuse island.

Day 3

Early start off to the giant tortoise farm before the crowds arrive. Feed and pet these amazing animals then take a 30 minute hike along the track leading us through mangroves and hill sides to the other side of the island where we can enjoy a cold drink in the bar. Back on the boat and head towards the small marina in Baie St. Anne where we spend the night. We can stop for some snorkeling and bouldering at the tiny island of St. Pierre along the way. We order a home cooked traditional Creole dinner platter delivered right to our boat in the marina.

Day 4

Optional visit to the Vallée de Mai Nature Reserve protected by UNESCO. It is home to the Coco de Mer, the largest seed in the world and often described as the original Garden of Eden. After lunch we set sail to Sister Islands. Grande Soeur is, for many people, among the most beautiful islands in the Seychelles. The coral reef on the west coast provides excellent snorkelling conditions. Next stop is Coco island where we can spot sea turtles, tropicla fish, ryas and even whale sharks. The island offers fantastic bouldering opportunities for the more adventurous. We head to Anse Coco on La Digue for the night.

Day 5

Start the morning with some swimming and beach time or even a hike up the hills to the Romeo & Juliet Rock or Eagle’s Nest viewpoint for spectacular views. Early lunch at the beach in Coco Bar – grilled fish, mango salad, grilled breadfruit and tropical cocktails freshly made from local fruits. Then we head out to Marianne island. There is a long beach on the west, while the southern part is a world-known diving spot. Then we head back to the main port of La Digue to spend the night there – we get to practice mooring with the anchor and our stern lines tied to a palm tree on the shore. We can hire bicycles to explore the island and to enjoy a local restaurant for dinner.

Day 6

In the morning we ride to the L’Unioin Estate, a former coconut and vanilla plantation, exploring all of its hidden, world-famous beaches and juice bars, shops etc. We sit in a restaurant for lunch in town and here we also sum up everything that we learned during the week polishing up your knowledge. In the afternoon we ride over the mountain road to Grande Anse to have some fun in the huge waves and climb to the top of the rocks. Ride back to town and watch the sunset from one of the beaches. Spend the night in the marina.

Day 7

After breakfast we start heading back towards the base marina on Mahé. Our last stop is Cerf Island where we enjoy the hospitality of a beach bar serving the best Creole dishes for lunch. Chilling and beach time after lunch before we head to fill up the fuel tanks and finally back to the base marina. A final debrief over dinner and everyone is honoured the title of Full Time Sailor Captain.

We will leave the boat by 9 am the next morning.

Testimonial

Past students have this to say about

Full Time Sailor

Through his intensive training, Norbert taught me in a very short period of time the intricacies of sailing, Mediterranean mooring, sail trimming, and much much much more! Even after completing my ASA 104 sailing certification, which qualifies me up 46ft, I didn’t have the practical experience to feel confident to sail. Norbert definitely gave me the practical sailing experience to feel confident to set sail. If someone asked me if I could recommend a sailing instructor, I would have no hesitation in recommending Norbert. He’s honest in his instruction, challenging in his method, and thoughtful in his assessment.
The knowledge and instructions of Norbert where very useful to me, and besides that, it was great fun! My boat was new to me and my sailing capabilities where very rusty. Norbert helped me get acquainted with my boat very quickly and made me feel comfortable sailing my boat! You can really see Norbert’s passion for sailing! Always busy tweeking the sails a little bit better. He is very clear in his instructions and in a pleasant way. The course was great fun! With Norbert you get quality and fun for your money. You will learn sailing quickly and in a very enjoyable way. Go for it!
Norbert is like a farmer who takes care about everything on the boat. Norbert has a superb knowledge of sail trim, and let’s you enjoy sailing while learning, and at the same time you get the operational skills and professional cognition. In sailing class with Norbert you will understand that he is a trusted coach and friend, full of passion for sailing.

HOW IT WORKS

Of course! You have numerous options to interact with us and with fellow captains.

  1. Exclusive Facebook Group – You can ask your questions in the members only Fb group and get them answered either by us instructors or epxerienced fellow members

We have courses at different difficulty levels, so everyone can find their most suitable option.

Beginner courses do NOT require previous experience, intermediate and advanced courses are mainly for those who have spent some time on a boat actively participating in navigational duties.

We have the online course so that you can prepare in advance for your first ever sailing to make your learning process much easier and faster.

It depends on many factors: what your goals are, what experience you have, which sailing area of the world you are interested in or live close to etc.

If you are unsure about which course to choose based on their descriptions, do not hesitate to book your 1:1 SailAway Planning Session with me so I can direct you in the right way

We do provide courses where you can acquire a sailing licence.

However it is not mandatory to take an exam. You can also join us on the course without entering the exam if you only want to practice.

Some courses are designed for enhancing certain skills and gaining experience and getting a licence is not involved in it.

Exam options are always stated in the course descriptions.

Absolutely YES!

There’s nothing like having an arsenal of lessons available to you whenever you want to practice or refresh your dusty skills.

Nobody remembers every single word from a class or a practical course. Often it’s the small details that can save you from a 5 figure damage repair cost or embarrassment in front of others.

These online lessons serve as an excellent supplement and you can watch them anytime & anywhere.

Furthermore we’ll not only teach you the theory in the online course, but also the practical side of sailing, so you’ll be visually familiar with a boat and its equipment by the time you actually get on one.

The Full Time Sailor mobile app is available for members only. When you purchase a course you will receive information about downloading and using the app.

The app allows members to easily view all their classes on their phone even if they have no internet connection.

Offline mode will let you watch every important video even in the middle of the sea.
