Clove hitch

Mainly used for initially securing fenders on the rails. But it is a temporary hold only because it slips very easily so once I got the correct height and intend to leave it there, I always secure it with two half hitches round the standing end.

You can also make it into a slip knot if you are short handed to allow for quicker adjustments if needed.
